I suggest 2 workbooks for clients that are very useful supports on your journey of couples therapy and relationship healing.
The following is a collection of communication handouts oriented to relationship dynamics. I provide these handouts to all couples I work with:
Focusing is an important, research based, technique that supports us to contact our inner sense of what is right for us and what direction we should follow. Focusing allows a connection to a deeper wisdom residing within. Focusing is very useful for connecting to our truth and to make decisions.
Mindfulness is a practice that allows you to be more present in the here and now. Mindfulness enhances your ability to be in the moment, more aware of what you are experiencing including your thoughts and emotions. Becoming more mindful has a lot of benefits including: calmness, emotional regulation, being aware of what your bring to your experience (and hence knowing what you need to change), and creates space to be less reactive and to make better choices.
These are some very basic 1-2 page handouts on how to practice mindfulness.
The following is a link to various MP3 recordings of mindfulness meditations. They are mostly around 20mins long. Working with these recordings is great way to train your mind, learn mindfulness and create peace when you are feeling unbanced.
